Booking flight

If you are intending to make a flight to/from Domodedovo (UUDD), Sheremetyevo (UUEE) or Vnukovo (UUWW), then you need to book a flight on this website. You can choose flights based on the real schedule, or to make a charter flight.

Charter flights are booked under "Charter Slots". You need to choose the time at which you will depart/arrive.

You can also book a turnaround flight (if applicable).

At any time, you can manually cancel the flight booking in the section «My reservations»

 

Parking places and ground procedures

If your gate is occupied by someone else, then move to the neighbouring (free) stand. ATC can change your gate or parking 

Don’t connect early than 30 minutes prior departure.

The engines startup is made on special startup points which placed on ground movement charts. An ATC will give you the necessary starting point during push back clearance. You will need to make a push back to this point, only after that, you are able to start the engines.

 

Flight Procedures

Flight procedures in the Russian Federation are not very different from the standards adopted in another world, except QFE and meters.

In addition to the standard instrument departures (SID) and arrivals (STAR),  there are transition routes in the Moscow area. Transition - is a route between the entrance/exit to the track and SID/STAR. Along with a SID/STAR you will be assigned and a transition route, make sure you select it in your FMC and follow it.

Do not descend on your own or if you are warned by your FMC (T/D). Request permission from ATC for that!

Pay attention to the ILS type. In Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo there are different types of ILS approach on the same runway. For example, in Sheremetyevo, there are ILS Y and Z approaches on the rwy 24C. They differ by IAF, go around procedure and other. in this case ILS Y is used for "new" RNAV STARs. (FK1A, MF1C и др) they finish and points UM, BALRA и RUGEL where  ILS Y is initiated. If you were given an old STAR (non-RNAV) (UM24A, BESTA24A)  it will end at points TALUK, ODMIT, NUDRI, SUSOR или GOPER where ILS Z approach begins. Don`t forget to report established localiser. Make sure you choose all the necessary parts of the arrival route by going to "VIAS" in Airbuses and "Transit" in Boeings to fly a full ILS approach procedure.

Leave the runway as soon as possible after landing. Use high-speed taxiways. They can take you at speeds up to 60 knots. Remember that the landing intervals can be very small and you can disturb other pilots.

Please be polite. Do not interrupt each other's voice. Maintain 10-15 second wait to avoid accidentally break into a conversation during join into controller frequency.

Speed restrictions

The flight crews must maintain the following indicated airspeeds unless otherwise instructed by ATC:

− 290 ± 10 kts or Mach 0.8 (whichever is less) – below cruising level to FL250;

− 270 ± 10 kts – below FL250 to FL100;

− 250 ± 10 kts – below FL100; 

− 220 ± 10 kts – at transition level or below, up to the point at a distance of 12nm from the runway extremity; 

− after passing the point at a distance of 12 nm from the runway extremity reduce IAS to 170 ± 10 kts, flaps in the intermediate position, landing gear retracted. 

Landing configuration should be established shortly prior to or over the point at a distance of 4.5 nm from the runway extremity, i.e. at this time the landing gear should be extended, the flaps set for landing, and the aircraft stabilized at a safe approach speed. 

Speed control is not applied with respect to aircraft which are at a distance of 8 km or less from the runway extremity on final approach. 

Make sure that you also follow and speed restrictions assigned in the STAR charts.

Charts

You must have charts on a board. It’s unacceptable to perform any procedures at the airport without them. Real pilots don't fly without charts. So let's keep the spirit of the Real Flight Event ;-)

MTL and X-CSL

Make sure you have the last release of MTL and X-CSL packages installed.

Otherwise, you are will be unable to see all the different beautiful liveries during RFE Moscow.

Metric system and QFE

Russian Federation uses the QFE and meters below transition level.

QFE (Q-code Field Elevation) - atmospheric pressure at the runway threshold (you see zero at altimeter). Be careful, all heights in meters below TL by QFE pressure. Make sure you are familiar with that.

Otherwise, anytime you can request QNH and altitudes (as well as feet) below TL if you are unable to comply with QFE operations and heights.
